Poker is a card game that requires skill and strategy to win.
The goal of the game is to make the best possible five-card hand, using only two cards from your own hands and four cards from the table. The player who makes the highest hand wins the pot.
A standard pack of 52 cards is used, though some games use multiple packs or add cards called jokers. The cards are ranked from high to low, and there are four suits (spades, hearts, diamonds and clubs).
There are also wild cards. These can take on any suit and rank their possessor wants.
The highest hand is a straight flush, which contains five cards of the same suit, with an ace high or low. This is considered a natural hand, and it beats any other type of hand.
Another hand is a pair, which is two distinct pairs of cards with a fifth card in between. This type of hand breaks ties when two or more people have the same high pair.
The next highest hand is a straight, which contains 5 cards in order, with an ace high or low. It beats any other type of hand, including a full house.
