Generally speaking, Poker is a game played by a group of people around a circular table. Each player is dealt a hand of cards, one at a time. The goal is to form the best possible hand. The hand may contain cards of the same suit or of two or more suits.<\/p>\n
The card with the highest value in a hand may be a high card, a low card, or a wild card. In some games, the ace may be treated as the lowest card.<\/p>\n
The highest card can break a tie, if several players have a hand of the same rank. A pair of kings is not bad off the deal, but a five of a kind is the best possible hand.<\/p>\n
There are three rounds of dealing, each distributing one card face up to the active players. A betting interval takes place between each round. A player can check, raise, or fold.<\/p>\n
The betting is generally done in a clockwise direction. The first player to bet is referred to as the bettor, while the first player to raise is called the raiser.<\/p>\n
A poker player’s goal is to form the best possible hand, and to bet until all other players fold. The best hand will win the pot. The pot is the aggregate of all bets made by all players in a single deal.
