Poker is a card game in which players place an initial bet into the pot before receiving their cards. These bets are called forced bets and they come in three forms: the ante, the blind bet and the bring-in bet. The rules of poker vary from game to game, but the basic rules are the same. Players are dealt a set number of cards, and then they can choose to call, raise or fold.<\/p>\n
A player can also choose to \u201ccheck\u201d their hand, meaning they will not put any money into the pot. However, if they are holding a strong hand they should bet it. This will force weaker hands to fold and raise the overall value of the pot.<\/p>\n
The most common poker hands are one pair, two pairs and a straight. The highest pair wins ties, and the high card breaks ties in case there are multiple hands with the same pair.<\/p>\n

In addition, many of the best players have mastered the art of reading their opponents\u2019 body language to gain an advantage in the game.
