When you gamble, it is a form of entertainment. You are not going to get rich off gambling but if you have fun it is a good thing to do. Gambling is not something to be confused with happiness but it does give you a feeling of accomplishment when you win. The casino industry is a competitive business. It has to compete with other casinos, non-gambling resorts, on line gaming and the private sector. The gambling industry is a thriving one but it is not without its risks.
It is not surprising that many people want to get involved in this lucrative but risky industry. However, it is important to do your research before making a decision. Unlike Goodfellas which is more focused on the slice of life aspects, Casino does jump around a bit to get to the next story beat but it feels much more coherent because of its logical approach. The story itself is captivating and the performances from De Niro, Pesci and Ginger are outstanding.
While the characters in this movie are mired in avarice and greed they do seem to get their comeuppance in the end. The film is a compelling depiction of human tragedy. Sharon Stone in particular stands out as one of the best female leads in Scorsese’s career.
